The world of Triarchia, formerly known as Nemoris, is marked by conflict, change and a grim reorganization. Once a center of technological achievement and economic prosperity, Nemoris was plunged into three devastating wars by greedy powers and uncontrolled competition. The consequences of these conflicts left a lasting mark on the world and led to the creation of the Triarchia system – a tripartite division of the planet built on the ruins of the old order.
The Great Wars and the fall of Nemoris
The resource conflict The first war broke out between the trading houses, which controlled the global flow of goods, and the technology houses, which needed more and more resources for their groundbreaking developments. Local disputes over raw materials escalated into a global conflict. Trade blockades and the use of military drones culminated in the destruction of Farran Delta, one of the largest port cities. Millions died and the global economy collapsed.
The Genetics War The conflict intensified with the introduction of genetically optimized soldiers – the “Optimates”. The trading houses used biological weapons to sabotage the genetic advances of the technology houses. The use of the “black seed”, a devastating biological weapon, made entire regions uninhabitable and led to worldwide hunger and mass exodus.
The war of the machines Autonomous weapons and surveillance systems of the technology houses were pitted against guerrilla fighters and saboteurs supported by the trading houses . The “Day of Silence” – a devastating cyberattack – paralyzed the global networks of the technology houses, but could not stop the decline. In the end, the world was in ruins due to wars, environmental destruction and social unrest.
The tripartite division and the emergence of Triarchia
The wars had plunged the world into a crisis that could only be overcome through radical measures. A pragmatic tripartite division of the world was intended to prevent further conflicts:
The Green Fields This sphere is the world’s main source of food. Agriculture is carried out here without machines, only through hard human labor – mostly by slaves. The slaves are isolated from the other spheres, their knowledge limited to their work and simple oral traditions. Control and surveillance by the Steel Cities prevent any rebellion. The Green Fields embody tradition and sacrifice, but also oppression and harshness.
The Borderlands As a center of trade, the Borderlands combine the agriculture of the Green Fields with the technological sphere of the Steel Cities. They are characterized by prosperity and power, but also by intrigue, betrayal and unequal living conditions. Trading houses fight for monopolies and influence the political and economic structures. This sphere is dynamic and unstable at the same time, a melting pot of wealth and poverty.
The Steel Cities This sphere is the technological stronghold and controls the world’s knowledge and surveillance systems. The inhabitants enjoy relative freedom and prosperity, while the technology houses ensure that the other spheres remain dependent. An elitist society reigns here, in which knowledge means power. The surveillance of the slaves and the enforcement of the “Old Rules” is controlled from here.
The Old Rules and the Council
The “Old Rules”, a strict charter, were created to preserve the fragile balance between the spheres. Violations of these rules are punished with “Extinction”, a devastating military measure enforced by the Council. This council, consisting of three representatives from each sphere, monitors compliance with the rules and acts as the final authority for maintaining peace.
The most important rules include:
Ban on machinery in agriculture (green fields).
Restriction of technological progress in the borderlands.
No slave trade or direct influence of the Steel Cities on the other spheres.
The society of Triarchia
The world of Triarchia is steeped in inequality and control. Slavery, based on origin, debt or punishment, is a mainstay of the Green Fields. Trade dominates the Borderlands, but poverty and debt slavery are omnipresent. The Steel Cities present themselves as a technological utopia, while they monitor and control the other spheres.
The cultural differences between the spheres are deeply rooted. Rituals and stories in the Green Fields honor nature, while science and progress take center stage in the Steel Cities. The Borderlands are a place of constant change, characterized by competition and individuality. Despite the separation, the spheres share a common mythology reminiscent of the time before the wars – a reminder of the price of chaos and competition.
The shadows of Triarchia
Despite the apparent stability, things are bubbling under the surface. Rumors of mysterious signals in the Steel Cities, strange occurrences in the Green Fields and stories of “star people” who could change the world hint at hidden threats. The system is stable, but tensions between the spheres and the growing ambitions of individual factions could once again plunge Triarchia into chaos.
